Featured Projects

WIS is very proud of the following completed projects.  There are not a lot of companies that can handle and execute projects like these. Some were exceptionally challenging, some were technically or logistically complex and some were just plain awesome. Our staff, vendors and partners all worked extremely hard to complete these special projects and thanks goes out to everyone involved.

WIS relocates NBC microwave systems to Universal Studios

h

In early 2011 NBC Universal began planning the complete studio relocation from Burbank to Universal Studios…….a massive undertaking to put it bluntly.  WIS was engaged in mid 2011 to support the RF infrastructure planning and design phase of the project.   The first goal was to identify dish size and placement for the 16 new microwave antennas.  WIS reviewed existing engineering, performed site and LOS surveys and provided new engineering and proposed dish placement based on F

IVECA Microwave Loop Complete!

h

Over the last 5 years WIS has been working with IVECA (Imperial Valley Emergency Communications Authority) to develop a reliable, county wide microwave system.  In late 2010 WIS had completed the new site development of the Black Mtn and Ogilby microwave sites, which nearly completed the microwave loop.  Soon after, WIS was tasked with surveying, engineering and licensing the remaining links (including site selection) that would complete the loop.  Due to a number of tower site selection c

Big Maria Tower Erection and Microwave System Relocation

h

Roughly 9 years prior Verizon Wireless had installed a “temporary” shelter and multiple microwave hops at this facility with the intent of eventually upgrading to a new tower due to diversity and height requirements needed to achieve reliability numbers on their microwave systems.  In 2011 they finally received BLM approval for the new tower, but there were multiple design issues with the site.  WIS was awarded the project and began work on the redesign with Verizon’s cons

New “Quadzilla” Dielectric master FM antenna installed for KPBS

h

WIS was contracted by KPBS to undertake this turnkey FM transmitter system relocation project in early May of 2012 with strict deadlines imposed by the FCC and grant funding. The high level scope appeared simple on paper; relocate KPBS from San Miguel to Mt Soledad. However, the KFMB master FM antenna did not cover FM channel 89.5 MHz so the entire antenna system would need to be replaced….with active users! The plan would be to install a TEMP 4 bay antenna at the top of the tower fo

h

On 11/22/2004 Sprint Nextel (Nextel at the time) was granted the right to operate on frequencies at the low end of the BAS band, which was predominantly used by broadcasters for fixed link microwave services and ENG transmission. KVMD CH 23 DTV Turnkey System Installation

h

WIS was engaged by KVMD to take over this project after years of failed planning approval attempts with the County of San Bernardino.  WIS was able to secure planning approval AND building permits for this project in less than 120 days after we took on the project.  The project included a new 110′ self support tower with a top mounted 55′ tall ERI  broadcast antenna tuned to CH 23 to be located amongst a few other shorter towers nestled on a small piece of private land surround
