Safety is one of the foundations of Wireless Infrastructure Services and we are committed to providing a safe work environment not only for our employees, but for our families, vendors and clients alike.
WIS employs a full time Safety Manager experienced and trained in the tower industry. Our Safety Manager is certified as an Rf safety trainer, 10 hr OSHA trainer, and 30 hr OSHA trainer. Company safety programs are continually monitored, adjusted, and updated to meet changing industry requirements and all programs are reviewed, implemented, and managed directly by the Safety Manager.
WIS also employs ComTrain certified tower safety and rescue instructors. All field staff is certified by these in-house trainers PRIOR to ever ascending a tower or structure, regardless of the employees past experience. Tower climbing safety is continually monitored by these instructors and the safety manager throughout the field staff’s employment at WIS. All certified climbers are issued climbing/safety/PPE kits upon passing the certified tower climbing and rescue course. This equipment is inspected daily before use by the climber and monthly by the safety manager. WIS maintains and enforces a 100% tie off policy at all times.
New hires are provided a welcome kit upon acceptance of an employment offer and must complete our company orientation and safety training prior to working in the field. This welcome kit includes basic PPE, instruction books, training manuals, employee handbook, and other WIS goods.
All field staff are trained and certified in CPR, first aid, OSHA 10 hour, Rf safety, rigging, and manlift/bucket truck operation. All supervisors and managers are required to complete and pass the OSHA 30 hour certification.
WIS owns Rf suits and monitors, which are worn at all times when working in high Rf environments. WIS Rf safety training and policies ensure that no staff will be required to work in a harmful Rf environment that exceeds the maximum exposure limits for safety.
Company vehicles are outfitted with a tower rescue kit, fire extinguisher, drinking water, first aid kit, 2 way radios, GPS, fire blankets, ear protection, eye protection, lock out/tag out system, eyewash kit, hand protection, flares, training manuals, company handbook, hospital location/map binder, IIPP, rigging handbook, MSDS sheets, stocked tool manuals, incident policies and forms, and other safety related items. This equipment is inspected monthly by the safety manager to ensure all documents are up to date and all equipment inventoried.
